Fabric core inserts are made with layers of your choice of absorbent fabrics. The number of layers you need depends on which absorbent fabric you choose. Bamboo fleece is highly effective and quite thin making an insert of up to six layers possible. Cotton Sherpa is almost twice as bulky as bamboo fleece. Three to four layers is recommended for this fabric. Burley terry is thick, like a bath towel, and very absorbent. Two to three layers is recommended for this fabric.

Flat soakers are single layer square pieces of fabric cut in dimensions prescribed by the pattern for use in pocket diapers. These squares are generally folded into thirds and inserted lengthwise in the the diaper. They can be made with any of the absorbent fabrics described on this page.

Sewn-in soakers are permanently attached inside the diaper by sewing it onto the stay-dry wicking layer of the diaper. Diapers with this type of soaker may be made with or without a pocket.

Snap-in soakers come in the Ditto Daddy trainer line.  They have a contoured shape that stretches from front to back for complete coverage.  The snap caps are hidden so that no plastic pieces are against the skin.  A professional snap press is used to set sturdy, long lasting snaps into the under side of the insert.
